The Philippines Department of Finance said discussions with a Swedish delegation centered on expanding bilateral economic cooperation in strategic sectors, with a focus on energy, digitalization and manufacturing as areas that could support investment, competitiveness and job creation. In the meeting, Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go highlighted the Philippines' interest in manufacturing projects as well as investments in renewable and clean energy and digital technologies, including artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Sweden pointed to its experience in fossil-free and renewable energy technologies, including floating offshore wind and integrated wind and solar solutions, with two or three companies already involved in related initiatives. The talks also covered possible partnerships in healthcare, agriculture, food security, electronics, mineral processing and services. Separately, Swedish Ambassador to the Philippines Anna Ferry raised continued streamlining and faster grant processing as a factor that could help attract more investment and support timely project implementation.
