The Central Bank of the Philippines’ Financial Inclusion Steering Committee has launched the Youth Financial Inclusion (YFI) Initiative, positioning youth as a priority segment under the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion 2022–2028 and aiming to increase youth account ownership while strengthening financial capability. The initiative has two main components: a YFI Ambassadors Program in which participants develop action plans to promote financial inclusion and improve financial health in their communities, and a YFI Hackathon designed to generate community-based solutions to financial inclusion challenges, with winning ideas potentially implemented. Beyond account ownership, the programme also covers financial education, consumer protection and regulatory support for youth financial inclusion, and is intended to coordinate engagement among regulators, financial service providers, youth groups, students and educators. Both components are expected to culminate in a Youth Congress scheduled for the second quarter of 2025.
