The National Bank of Georgia will issue collectible silver and gold coins to mark the 1700th anniversary of Christianity being declared Georgia's state religion. The decision follows a proposal from a special commission created for the anniversary and composed of representatives of the government and the Patriarchate. National Bank of Georgia President Natia Turnava met the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia to present the concept and content of the issue. The bank will develop the coin design jointly with the Patriarchate. The anniversary commission is co-chaired by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the Catholicos-Patriarch.
