The Hong Kong Insurance Authority (IA) has alerted the public to two fraudulent Facebook pages that purport to be the official social media pages of an authorised Hong Kong insurer, BOC Group Life Assurance Company Limited (BOC Life). BOC Life has confirmed it has no connection with the pages. The IA identified the pages as “hxxps://www[.]facebook[.]com/profile[.]php?id=100066978669003” and “hxxps://www[.]facebook[.]com/profile[.]php?id=100063892602223” and reported the case to the Hong Kong Police Force for investigation. The IA advised anyone who provided personal information or conducted transactions through the pages to contact BOC Life’s customer service and report the matter to the police, and noted that the Register of Authorized Insurers is available on the IA website.
