Securities Commission Malaysia has announced six participants for the first cohort of its Regulatory Sandbox, which provides a controlled environment for corporations to test new capital market products and services through real-world deployment and assessment. The selected participants span three themes: alternative real estate investments (Wahed X Sdn Bhd and Urban NX Sdn Bhd), secondary markets (Kapital DX Sdn Bhd and Pitch Platforms Sdn Bhd), and alternative financing (Virtual Economy Technology Sdn Bhd and PeerHive (M) Sdn Bhd). Some proposals also apply advanced data analytics and blockchain to enhance due diligence and introduce new operating models. Each participant will receive an approximate 12-month testing period under defined parameters and requirements. Testing will run in two batches based on readiness, with start dates in January 2026 or July 2026. The regulator also encouraged other corporations with innovative business models to engage via its Alliance of FinTech Community.
