The Financial Action Task Force of Latin America held a regional workshop in Bogotá from 26 to 28 May 2026 for supervisory authorities from member countries on applying a risk based approach to the supervision of designated non-financial businesses and professions. The workshop formed part of GAFILAT’s strategic plan to strengthen anti money laundering and counter terrorist financing systems, with a focus on improving DNFBP supervision in line with Financial Action Task Force standards. The programme focused on building technical capacity in identifying and understanding risks, turning risk findings into supervisory priorities, and planning supervision on a risk basis. It also covered sectoral risk assessments, the design and use of risk matrices, and the use of innovative tools, including artificial intelligence, to support supervisory processes. The format combined technical presentations, practical exercises, and regional exchanges on common challenges and supervisory practices, with input from regional experts and country case studies on risk management tools and sectoral assessments for DNFBP sectors.
