The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP), represented by Superintendent Alessandro Octaviani, took part in the MAPFRE Innovation Summit and used the forum to underline the insurance market’s above-GDP growth in 2024 while arguing that Brazil still has significant scope to expand insurance coverage. Octaviani framed insurance as a source of “contractual infrastructure” and called for expanding the country’s insured base. He pointed to SUSEP’s innovation initiatives, including the regulatory sandbox, the SRO and Open Insurance, and linked technological innovation to the regulator’s aim of fostering a National Policy for Access to Insurance. He also highlighted surety bond insurance as an essential tool to support contract performance in infrastructure projects and argued for incorporating new technologies to innovate the product.
