The Sustainable Banking and Finance Network published a post-event advisory on a Geneva roundtable hosted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to advance implementation of the Roadmap for Advancing Interoperability and Comparability of Sustainable Finance Taxonomies. The roadmap, launched during COP29 in Azerbaijan, is a joint effort of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, the International Finance Corporation, SBFN, UNDP and the International Platform on Sustainable Finance. Participants agreed the roadmap should act as a global coordination platform to align taxonomy initiatives, reduce redundancies and strengthen linkages between ongoing work and the roadmap’s pillars. The roundtable also brought in additional partners including United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative, German Agency for International Cooperation, Climate Bonds Initiative, the EU Sustainable Finance Advisory Hub for low and middle income countries, UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, and discussed next steps and connections to global policy forums such as the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group, the UN’s 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, and COP30 and COP31.
