France's Ministry of Economics and Finance announced new rates for regulated savings products, lowering the Livret A rate to 1.5% from 1 February 2026 (from 1.7% previously) and setting the Livret d’épargne populaire (LEP) rate at 2.5%, in line with the recommendation of the Governor of the Banque de France. The Livret de développement durable et solidaire (LDDS), which is remunerated at the same rate as the Livret A, will also move to 1.5% from the same date, and the Livret Jeune rate may not be below the Livret A. For the LEP, the 2.5% rate is presented as a discretionary uplift above the rate implied by the regulatory formula, which would have produced 1.9%, representing a 0.6 percentage point increase; the Banque de France calculates the formula semi-annually based on inflation and short-term market rates (€STR).
