The Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan announced that it signed an updated memorandum of understanding with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants on 18 May to introduce a modern system for training and professional certification in International Financial Reporting Standards. The agreement, signed under the implementation of the President’s September 2025 decision on aligning financial reporting with international requirements and standards, expands cooperation on training specialists in international financial reporting and auditing standards, raising teacher qualifications, accrediting university programmes, and integrating the ACCA qualification into the national education system. The updated memorandum also adds cooperation on strengthening the audit quality control system in line with international practice and ACCA methodology, building sustainability-related skills, supporting the introduction of international sustainability reporting standards, and organising training and professional development programmes for public sector staff. The ministry said that under the initial 2020 memorandum, the state budget covered UZS 11.06 billion of exam and study costs for more than 4,200 candidates between 2020 and 2025, more than 20 training centres obtained international accreditation, and Uzbekistan now has about 2,337 professionals holding international certificates, including 123 ACCA members or affiliates and 618 DipIFR holders.
