The Central Bank of the UAE announced that Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama, who is also the UAE Governor to the International Monetary Fund, will lead its delegation at the 2026 IMF and World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok from Oct. 12 to 18. The delegation will focus on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, sustainable finance, financial inclusion and financial system adaptation to climate risks. The delegation will present developments in the UAE economy and its regulatory and financial innovation agenda, including technology-enabled regulatory frameworks, advanced payment initiatives and central bank digital currency projects. It will participate in meetings including the Group of Twenty, the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan Group, the Group of Twenty-Four and the International Monetary and Financial Committee. Bilateral discussions with central banks, international financial institutions and regulators will address financial services innovation and cross-border payment infrastructure.
