The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo has launched a call for research papers for its Young Economists Prize, inviting young researchers to submit scientific work on specified topics linked to Kosovo’s financial sector and economic development. The programme foresees five winners receiving recognition and a financial award, subject to the quality of submissions. Eligible themes cover the resilience of Kosovo’s financial system to global uncertainties, payment systems modernisation, the role of artificial intelligence in modernising the financial system and expanding digital financial services, financial intermediation and support for innovation and a shift toward production and exports, fintech development and related risks and regulatory challenges, and the dynamics of financial consumer complaints and proposals to improve consumer protection policies. Papers must be no longer than 8,500 words, written in Albanian or Serbian and also provided in English for ethical standards and plagiarism checks, and include a one-page executive summary and full references using APA (7th edition), Chicago, Harvard or another model. Kosovo citizens studying at bachelor, master or PhD level (in or outside Kosovo) may apply, including as co-authors, but the prize is awarded once to the lead author; previously published papers are excluded, as are current and former Central Bank staff from the past three years. Submissions that breach ethics rules or are prepared using artificial intelligence platforms will be rejected and handled under applicable legal practices, with the possibility of notifying relevant universities. The deadline for submission is 15 October 2026 (16:00 for physical delivery). A Central Bank evaluation committee will select up to five best papers based on research quality, writing quality, citation integrity, and policy relevance and contribution, and only selected candidates will be notified.
