The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) held workplace voter opinion conferences to introduce Governor Nguyen Thi Hong as a candidate for deputy to the XVI National Assembly for the 2026–2031 term, with 100% of voters supporting her nomination. The SBV subsequently convened an expanded leadership conference and a meeting of the Standing Committee of the SBV’s Party Committee, which also unanimously endorsed her candidacy. The process was conducted in line with announcements and guidance referenced from the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the expected introduction of National Assembly candidates. Voters were briefed on the legal criteria for candidacy and on Nguyen Thi Hong’s professional background, including her career at the SBV since 1991 and her approval by the National Assembly to serve as Governor since November 2020; the discussion also cited sector outcomes attributed to her term, including macroeconomic and inflation management, stability in currency and foreign exchange markets, legal framework improvements, the compulsory transfer of four weak commercial banks, and advances in digital transformation and administrative reform.
