Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance and Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family announced the completion of contracting under the Home II affordable first-home loan program. A total of 14,114 loan agreements worth EUR 1.54 billion were signed, representing 93.5% of the 15,097 approved loans. The program combined 50% interest-free financing from Recovery and Resilience Facility resources with 50% financing from participating credit institutions. Approved loans totaled EUR 1.82 billion, or 94.5% of the program budget, with an average loan of EUR 120,400. Public support of EUR 943.2 million mobilized property purchases worth more than EUR 2.15 billion. Two-thirds of beneficiaries had annual income of up to EUR 24,000, 41% were aged 36 or younger and 37% of loans went to areas outside Attica and Central Macedonia. Loans approved but not contracted by the June 2, 2026, Recovery and Resilience Facility milestone were completed by Aug. 31 using resources managed by the Hellenic Development Bank, ensuring approved beneficiaries were not excluded because of the deadline.
