The National Bank of Serbia reported that its gold reserves have reached a record 55.3 tonnes, valued at EUR 6.5 billion and representing about 22% of gross foreign exchange reserves. The update followed talks with the World Gold Council during the IMF and World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok. The central bank has purchased 2.8 tonnes from domestic production since the start of 2026 as part of a strategy that also includes buying gold on international markets. It plans to continue adding domestically produced gold to its reserves. World Gold Council representatives noted growing international interest in this combined purchasing approach.
