The Central Bank of the Philippines (BSP) announced that Bank of Makati, Inc. (BMI) has joined its “Piso Caravan” programme, under which participating financial institutions facilitate the exchange of unfit banknotes and coins for fit or clean currency. BMI’s participation brings the number of participating institutions to 141. BMI signed a pledge of commitment to support the Piso Caravan during a ceremony at the BSP head office in Manila on 24 March 2025, attended by BSP Assistant Governor Rosabel B. Guerrero and BSP regional office officials. Under the programme, participating institutions assist in replacing unfit and mutilated currency, encourage the recirculation of idle coins, and promote awareness of proper currency handling, supporting the BSP’s Clean Note and Coin Policy and Coin Recirculation Program.
