Open Banking Limited, acting as neutral facilitator of the Future Entity Design Programme, published the Future Entity Design Steering Group’s appointment of Ezechi Britton MBE as its independent chair. Britton will lead the industry decision-making body as it develops the design of the organization intended to support the next phase of UK Open Banking. The program is preparing a detailed blueprint and implementation plan by the end of 2026, covering the Future Entity’s scope, capabilities, governance and funding model. The work will support implementation of the Long-Term Regulatory Framework, the development of account-to-account payments under the government’s National Payments Vision and the wider UK Smart Data economy. The process includes a working group of more than 30 funders spanning banks, fintechs, technical service providers and payment schemes.
