The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority has introduced updated insurance regulations intended to improve the competitiveness of the Island’s insurance sector, with a particular focus on captive insurers and insurance special purpose vehicles. The changes took effect on 30 June 2025 and include new enabling provisions to support fast-track authorisations and insurance regulatory sandboxing. The package comprises the Insurance Regulations 2025 and the Insurance (Fees and Miscellaneous) (Amendment) Regulations 2025, alongside binding guidance in the Insurance (Special Purpose Vehicle and Corporate Governance) (Amendment) Guidance Notes 2025. The amendments and guidance follow the Authority’s public consultations CP24-03 and CP24-05. A feedback statement responding to CP24-05 has also been published.
