The Central Bank of Cuba published an international overview reporting Chinese shipping company Sea Legend’s launch of the first regular commercial route through the Arctic between Asia and Europe. Citing El Economista, the article says the service is scheduled to operate weekly from August through October between Ningbo, China, and Felixstowe, United Kingdom, along Russia’s northern coast. The route is expected to reduce travel time from about 40 days to approximately 20 days, depending on Arctic Ocean conditions, while avoiding bottlenecks such as the Red Sea and the Strait of Malacca. Navigation will be subject to conditions set by the Russian national company responsible for developing Arctic corridors.
