United Arab Emirates' General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) announced that the UAE is hosting the 63rd meeting of the Permanent Technical Committee for Civil Retirement and Social Security Agencies of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States in Dubai on 19 to 21 January 2026. The session forms part of the committee’s regular review of updates to the GCC Unified Insurance Protection Extension System, which provides pension and social security coverage for GCC nationals working in member states outside their home country under their home-country pension laws. A central agenda item is the presentation of the 2026-2030 Action Plan for the Committee of Heads of Civil Retirement and Social Security Agencies in GCC Countries, including work to study extending the system to cover work-related injuries and updating system rules such as activating additional charges where employers delay contribution payments. The committee will also discuss digital data integration between GCC agencies, review the unified annual awareness campaign plan for 2026 prepared by GPSSA, and consider statistical indicators on the system’s performance, alongside items on a scientific research award, periodic seminars, a planned retiree benefits programme and an unemployment insurance programme. An introductory forum on the sidelines will bring together committee members, employers and GCC citizens working in the UAE.
