The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) published its Quarterly Superannuation Performance report for the March 2025 quarter, reporting total superannuation assets of AUD 4.1 trillion at 31 March 2025, including AUD 2.9 trillion held in APRA-regulated funds. Total assets fell 0.8% over the quarter but were 5.9% higher than a year earlier. Year-on-year to March 2025, APRA-regulated assets increased 7.4% to AUD 2,890.8 billion, self-managed super fund assets rose 2.7% to AUD 1,005.5 billion, exempt public sector scheme assets increased 2.2% to AUD 173.4 billion, and life office statutory fund assets rose 5.0% to AUD 59.3 billion. Total contributions for the year increased 14.4% to AUD 202.8 billion (employer contributions up 10.3% to AUD 147.1 billion and member contributions up 26.9% to AUD 55.7 billion), while benefit payments increased 11.6% to AUD 127.5 billion, driven by lump sum payments of AUD 70.0 billion (up 9.1%) and pension payments of AUD 57.6 billion (up 14.9%); for entities with more than six members, net contribution flows rose 13.4% to AUD 67.0 billion.
