The State Bank of Vietnam announced it has received a report from the National Credit Information Center of Vietnam (CIC) on an incident related to credit information at CIC, and has instructed CIC to urgently report and closely coordinate with competent state authorities to verify and address the matter while keeping CIC’s operations continuous and stable. The central bank noted that CIC is one of four entities permitted to provide credit information services in Vietnam, and clarified that credit information collected by CIC under law does not include deposit account details, deposit balances, savings passbooks, payment accounts, debit or credit card numbers, CVV/CVC security codes, or customers’ payment transaction histories. It also reiterated its ongoing directions to credit institutions to review and strictly comply with legal requirements on cybersecurity, security and safety of information technology systems, and customer protection, and warned that unlawful collection, processing, use, exchange, or provision of credit information will be handled under applicable law.
