The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s Banking Supervision Committee held nine meetings in September 2025, reviewing 43 supervisory matters and adopting corresponding decisions across licensing, governance approvals, and prudential oversight. The cycle included supervisory actions, with warnings issued to seven banks and 13 payment institutions and fines imposed on eight banks. Registration and licensing decisions covered 28 items, including registration of amendments to credit institutions’ charters (five cases), registration of newly established microfinance organizations (two), permissions for ownership of shares in credit institutions’ charter capital (three), issuance of auditor qualification certificates for bank audits (three), issuance of a license to operate as a microfinance bank (one), and consideration of candidates for supervisory boards, executive boards, and key managerial positions of commercial banks (14). A further 15 items addressed the financial condition of credit institutions, including compliance with Central Bank directives and prudential requirements, inspection findings for commercial banks and microfinance organizations, consumer protection in banking services, and controls related to anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, and countering the financing of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
