The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission said its representative took part in and formally opened the Asian Claims Convention 2026 in Phuket, using the forum to emphasize stronger professional standards, transparency and operating practices for loss adjusters. The message was framed around the need for faster, accurate and fair claims handling as natural disasters become more frequent and severe and as technological change reshapes the insurance sector. In remarks at the conference, the Office of Insurance Commission pointed to rising catastrophe losses across the region and globally. It cited global insured natural catastrophe losses of USD 107 billion in 2025, average flood loss growth in Asia of about 12% a year, economic damage of USD 11 billion from tropical storms affecting Thailand and neighboring countries in 2025, and insured losses of USD 1.5 billion from the March 2025 earthquake centered in Myanmar that affected parts of Thailand. Against that backdrop, the agency said claims management is central to insurers' fulfillment of policy obligations and that it supports the use of technology and innovation by loss adjusters to improve the speed and quality of claims assessment. The release described participation in the conference as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with international professional bodies and specialists on developing loss adjuster standards and insurance knowledge. The event, organized by The Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters, brought together more than 200 participants from Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
