Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance published the February 2026 progress update on the out-of-court debt settlement mechanism, reporting 2,055 settlements completed during the month and 6,380 new applications. Since the mechanism launched, 55,343 settlements have been completed, covering EUR 17.07 billion of initial debts, with an approval rate of 78%. Of the February completions, 605 were concluded under Law 5193/2025, applying expanded vulnerability criteria linked to a mandatory settlement proposal from creditors. The update also reported 285 arrangements for financially vulnerable debtors in February, including 29 for persons with disabilities, and 471 cases since inception where enforcement measures were suspended. Separate bilateral loan arrangements with the four largest servicers (Intrum, Cepal, DoValue and Qquant) totalled EUR 309 million in January 2026 across 4,705 debtors; year-end 2025 data showed almost 50% of non-performing loans in the four systemic banks’ portfolios were denounced and about 15% were in settlement.
