Ceres announced that it and the California Department of Insurance were honoured by InsuranceERM with the Climate and Sustainability Collaboration of the Year award, recognising their partnership behind the Global Sustainable Insurance Summit (GSIS). The release describes GSIS, now in its second year, as a forum bringing together more than 50 international stakeholders, including insurance commissioners from more than a dozen US states and insurance supervisors from six continents, alongside government, academic and nonprofit participants. It also credits the collaboration with policy and market-facing outputs, including California legislation to promote incentive-based rates inspired by a programme discussed at the Summit, the adaptation of flood protection strategies from Asia for US markets and the sharing of California wildfire resilience approaches with European insurance strategies. The partnership is also presented as having facilitated TCFD-aligned climate disclosure frameworks used by over 1,700 insurers nationwide and the development of open-source climate risk tools intended to be accessible to smaller insurers and emerging markets.
