The UK Financial Conduct Authority confirmed that motor finance lender Blue Motor Finance Limited has entered administration after operating at a loss for several years and facing compensation liabilities it could not meet. Simon Edel, Richard Barker and Alan Michael Hudson of Ernst & Young LLP were appointed joint administrators. The firm has stopped lending, but outstanding loan agreements remain in place and will continue to be serviced by Blue Motor Finance in the short term. Customers should continue making payments as usual. The firm remains liable for compensation, including under the FCA’s motor finance compensation scheme, although affected customers are unlikely to recover all amounts owed. The FCA is engaging with the firm and the joint administrators, who will contact affected customers. Customers with claims or questions about their loans should approach the administrators and remain alert to potential fraud.
