The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation has issued a request for information seeking comments on its approach to evaluating the statutory factors that apply to certain filings submitted by industrial banks and industrial loan companies and their parent companies. The RFI is intended to review the nature and structure of companies that have applied, or may apply in future, for an industrial bank charter and Federal deposit insurance, as well as those seeking FDIC approval or non-objection for other corporate transactions involving industrial banks. The feedback is expected to inform how the FDIC assesses the statutory factors on a filing-by-filing basis in light of industrial banks’ business plans and the range of companies that may seek to establish an industrial bank in the modern marketplace.
