The Central Bank of Estonia has published its monthly flash estimate of the balance of payments, which it produces for the month two months prior, and pointed readers to more detailed monthly balance of payments information on its website. It also announced that the balance of payments for the first quarter of 2026 will be published on 8 June 2026. The central bank explained that the quarterly balance of payments is compiled from a combined system of representative primary data sources, including company surveys, while the monthly balance of payments draws on a considerably smaller database. Although the monthly estimate uses as much data as possible for the reported month, including administrative data sources and reports on international payments, it involves some estimation and is therefore presented as an estimate; once the quarterly balance of payments is released, the monthly figures are adjusted accordingly. Statistical releases are published together with statistical data and are presented separately from economic policy releases. The next scheduled milestone is the publication of the first-quarter 2026 balance of payments on 8 June 2026.
