The Central Bank of Slovenia has assessed the banking system as stable and resilient, with overall systemic risks remaining moderate. Macrofinancial and information and communication technology risks remain elevated, while income risk is low. The central bank also recalculated the minimum creditworthiness amount that consumers must retain after monthly loan payments, projecting an increase from EUR 745 to EUR 840 from the beginning of 2027, subject to commentary and final adoption. Macrofinancial risks have a deteriorating outlook because of international market uncertainty, geopolitical conflicts and high energy prices. Technology risk also has a rising outlook, reflecting cyber threats, the potential misuse of advanced artificial intelligence models and an expanded risk definition covering technical faults, data loss and business continuity disruptions. Credit, funding, interest rate and climate risks remain moderate, although real estate risk is strengthening and banks’ sensitivity to interest rate changes has increased. Solvency, profitability and liquidity resilience remain high, supported by macroprudential measures, strong income and prudent earnings retention. The proposed creditworthiness amount incorporates the updated minimum cost of living and inflation forecasts for 2026 and 2027. The central bank expects the increase to have a relatively small effect on new housing and consumer lending because incomes have grown and lenders can adjust loan amounts and maturities.
