The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan re-elected Igor Alekseyevich Yakovenko as Insurance Ombudsman for a three-year term, following a decision of the Agency’s Commission under Article 86(3) of the Law on Insurance Activity. Yakovenko will begin a second term and has held the role since 30 November 2022. The release highlights his legal and economic education and experience across the insurance and banking sectors, including in managerial roles, as well as prior work as a lawyer representing clients in court. It also notes measures implemented under his leadership to improve the effectiveness and quality of handling citizens’ requests, including conciliation and simplified dispute-resolution procedures, structural reforms of the ombudsman’s office, digitisation of core workstreams, deployment of a CRM system to automate monitoring of decision implementation and enable faster interaction with insurers, and an online calculator for applying depreciation when assessing losses.
