The Argentina Securities Commission (CNV) ran a training programme comprising two virtual seminars on fintech and capital markets in partnership with the Program on International Financial Systems (PIFS) at Harvard Law School. The sessions were aimed at CNV staff and invited regional regulators. The seminars covered how emerging financial technologies are reshaping capital markets, including implications for supervision and regulation, and examined the impact of social media on financial markets, market misconduct and regulatory enforcement challenges. Presentations were delivered by Douglas Arner (University of Hong Kong), John Kain (Amazon Web Services), Gabriel Rauterberg (University of Michigan) and Stephanie Avakian (WilmerHale, former US Securities and Exchange Commission Enforcement Division director), with participation from regulators in Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and Peru and representatives from Amazon Web Services.
