The Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia said its head, David Onoprishvili, and the head of its Licensing and Registration Department, Eter Papiashvili, are participating in the Azerbaijan International Insurance Forum 2026 in Baku on June 24-25. The event brings together insurers, supervisors, international organizations and financial institutions to discuss insurance market development, reinsurance, pension systems, life and health insurance, bancassurance and brokerage, alongside a dedicated session on education, training and professional qualifications in insurance. For Georgia, the authority highlighted the session on pension systems as particularly relevant because the international experience and practical approaches presented there may inform the further development of Georgia's ongoing pension reform and the refinement of supervisory practice. On the sidelines, Onoprishvili met Azerbaijani supervisory counterpart Vusal Gurbanov and the head of the Azerbaijan Insurance Association, Abbas Miskarli, and also held meetings with representatives of supervisory authorities from other countries to discuss experience sharing, deeper professional cooperation and potential future joint initiatives. Representatives of Georgian insurance companies are also attending the forum, with the event framed as supporting international professional links, reinsurance cooperation and the Georgian insurance sector's integration with international markets.
