The National Bank of Ukraine has appointed Volodymyr Sukhanov as Director of its Nonbank Financial Service Providers Supervision Department, effective 24 January 2025. The department, which the NBU established as part of its updated organisational structure in November 2024, is intended to expand and deepen supervision of nonbank financial service providers and sits within the NBU’s Prudential Supervision function under Deputy Governor Dmytro Oliinyk. In his new role, Sukhanov will oversee off-site supervision of compliance with legislation across nonbank financial services markets, excluding the payment and foreign exchange markets. The remit also covers assessing risks in nonbank financial institutions’ activities, responding to breaches of financial services laws and risky business conduct, contributing to reviews of corporate governance and internal control systems, analysing nonbank financial services markets and institutions’ financial standing and performance, and maintaining transparent engagement with market participants to support the development of up-to-date regulation.
