Portugal's Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority (ASF) held a public presentation ceremony for its new Chair of the Board of Directors, Gabriel Bernardino, who succeeds Margarida Corrêa de Aguiar following the end of her term. ASF highlighted Bernardino’s professional experience and stated that he takes up the role with a commitment to continue the authority’s mission of regulating and supervising the insurance and pension funds sectors, with a focus on promoting their solidity, stability and transparency in support of consumer protection and the sustainability of the financial system. In his remarks, Bernardino underlined the role of insurance and pension funds as pillars of resilience and called for broad contributions to structural reforms to address significant protection gaps in Portuguese society. ASF also thanked Corrêa de Aguiar for work during her mandate that contributed to the authority’s institutional strengthening and to the sector’s credibility.
