The Central Bank of Egypt has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China’s National Financial Regulatory Administration to enhance cooperation on banking supervision, including bank and financial institution licensing and the oversight of cross-border establishments operating in either jurisdiction. The MoU sets out arrangements for joint cooperation on licensing, ongoing supervision of cross-border activities, and information sharing to support supervisory tasks and promote the safety and soundness of banks. It also covers exchanging experience, training and technical expertise in banking supervision, streamlining the exchange of information on relevant legal and regulatory changes, and holding regular meetings between the two authorities.
