The Central Bank of Latvia published 2025 payment statistics showing Latvian payment service providers executed 934 million customer non-cash payments with a total value of EUR 1.2 trillion, averaging 2.6 million payments worth EUR 3.3 billion per day. Compared with 2024, the volume and value of customer non-cash payments increased by 7% and 11% respectively. Payment cards accounted for 60% of payment volume and customer credit transfers for 36%, with volumes for both increasing. Growth in total payment value was mainly driven by credit transfers, where volume and value excluding intrabank payments reached 111.3 million payments totalling EUR 162.1 billion, up 11% by volume and 10% by value. The release also reported 35 thousand fraudulent payments totalling EUR 10.5 million in 2025, with fraudulent payment volume up 9% and value down 12%; by year-end, providers had issued 2.3 million payment cards to individuals, operated 51.3 thousand POS terminals and 867 ATMs in Latvia, and held 3.2 million payment accounts for natural persons.
