Argentina's Ministry of Finance reported that Economy Minister Luis Caputo, accompanied by Finance Secretary Pablo Quirno, held a full day of engagements in Washington, DC during the 2025 IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings, focused on Argentina’s IMF programme and broader international economic and financial policy discussions. The agenda included bilateral meetings with France’s Minister of Finance and Industry Éric Lombard and Germany’s Finance Minister Jörg Kukies, as well as a meeting with IMF First Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath. Discussions covered France’s support for Argentina’s IMF programme and French companies’ investments in Argentina, a review of programme progress and future challenges with the IMF, and the potential opportunity from an EU-Mercosur agreement, particularly for the energy sector. Caputo also held an economic dialogue with New York University professor Nouriel Roubini, participated in the IMF and Financial Stability Board’s semiannual Early Warning Exercise on low-probability high-impact global risks, joined G20 finance ministers’ sessions on the International Financial Architecture, and attended the introductory session of the IMF’s International Monetary and Financial Committee.
