Romania's Ministry of Finance leads OECD EDRC evaluation focused on the 2026 Economic Survey as accession process nears final stages

Romania's Ministry of Finance announced that Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare is leading a government delegation to Paris on 11–13 January 2026 for meetings tied to Romania’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), culminating in an OECD Economic and Development Review Committee (EDRC) assessment session. The delegation includes experts from relevant ministries and representatives of the National Bank of Romania. The agenda includes bilateral meetings on 12 January with OECD Director Manal Corwin on fiscal policy and international standards of economic governance, and with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann on Romania’s progress, the accession timetable and recent macroeconomic developments. The central event is the 13 January EDRC session to debate the draft OECD Economic Survey of Romania 2026 and to review macroeconomic indicators and structural reforms, with the survey structured around macroeconomic developments and public policy challenges, social policies, climate change impacts and competitiveness, alongside discussions on improving the business environment, supporting private investment, and strengthening fiscal predictability and administrative effectiveness.
