The Central Bank of Egypt reported that remittances from Egyptians working abroad continued to surge for the 11th consecutive month following economic reform measures implemented in March 2024, with January 2025 inflows up 83.2% year on year. Remittances reached approximately USD 2.9 billion in January 2025 versus around USD 1.6 billion in January 2024, described as an unprecedented level for January. Over the first seven months of FY 2024/2025 (July 2024 to January 2025), remittances increased by 81.0% to around USD 20.0 billion, compared with nearly USD 11.0 billion over the same period a year earlier.
