The Slovenia Insurance Supervision Agency, supported by the Slovenian Insurance Association, published a public information piece and accompanying PDF on the increasing risks linked to e-scooter use and the potential role of insurance in managing liability and loss. The guidance highlights that accidents involving e-scooters are rising year on year, with frequent causes including inappropriate speed, riding without protective equipment and breaches of traffic rules. It notes that collisions can result in serious injuries to riders as well as pedestrians and cyclists, including fatal outcomes where helmets are not used, and that e-scooters are not yet subject to a unified insurance framework. The material cites average compensation for bodily injury claims of EUR 3,000 to EUR 4,000 and points to micromobility insurance options that can cover third-party liability, rider accidents and damage to the e-scooter, while recommending basic safety measures such as helmets, reflective clothing, riding without passengers and using cycle paths.
