Bank of Indonesia’s latest Retail Sales Survey indicates that retailers expect sales to remain broadly stable in June 2026. The projected Real Sales Index stands at 221.6, with positive annual growth mainly supported by spare parts and accessories and other household equipment. On a month on month basis, retailers expect sales to contract 0.8% in June, an improvement from the 1.5% contraction in the previous period, linked to the start of the school holiday period at the end of June. For May 2026, the Real Sales Index was 223.4. Annual growth was supported by spare parts and accessories, automotive fuels, and cultural and recreational goods, while monthly sales contracted 1.5%, improving from an 11.6% contraction in the previous period amid seasonal private demand during the Ascension of Jesus Christ, Eid al-Adha and Vesak festive period. On prices, respondents expect inflationary pressures to build in August 2026 before stabilizing in November 2026. The Price Expectations Index for August was projected at 178.0, up from 175.8 in July, driven by higher raw material prices, while the November reading was seen at 167.5 versus 167.6 in October.
