The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan reported that its First Deputy Chairman, Firuz Sharifzoda, participated in the 23rd annual meeting of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) in Rabat, Morocco, and used the forum to advance discussions on international cooperation and the development of Islamic finance. Hosted by the Central Bank of Morocco, the meeting brought together central banks, regulators, financial institutions and international organisations, and covered topics including the stability of the Islamic financial system, improvements to legal frameworks and strengthening regulatory and supervisory mechanisms. Participants reviewed the IFSB annual report and financial audit results, as well as membership matters, coordination of future work and strategic directions for Islamic finance and the IFSB’s role. On the sidelines, Sharifzoda held meetings with leaders of several IFSB-member central banks and international organisations to discuss bilateral and multilateral cooperation, access to financial and technical resources, expert support and joint training in Islamic finance and banking, including exchange of international experience and standards relevant to Tajikistan.
