South Korea’s Financial Services Commission designated five banks and five bank holding companies as domestic systemically important banks and domestic systemically important financial institutions for 2027, retaining the previous year’s list. The entities are Shinhan Financial Group, KB Financial Group, Hana Financial Group, Woori Financial Group, NH Financial Group, Shinhan Bank, Woori Bank, KB Bank, Hana Bank and NH Bank. Domestic systemically important banks must maintain additional common equity capital of 1.0%, although the unchanged designations mean no increase in their required capital ratios. Designated domestic systemically important financial institutions must submit recovery plans to the Financial Supervisory Service within three months of designation, while the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation must prepare their resolution plans for annual approval by the commission.
