The International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation Trustees approved a five-year operating and financing plan for the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). The plan seeks a more diversified, durable funding base for the IASB and secures a path to resource the ISSB through 2031 as adoption of its standards expands. The Trustees also expect to open a Geneva office in mid-2027 as the seat of the ISSB while retaining its other locations, including Frankfurt as its hub for European Union engagement. The IASB plan will pursue contributions from jurisdictions and capital market participants, expand intellectual property licensing and allow accumulated reserves to be used while longer-term funding is implemented. Separately, proposed constitutional amendments would codify the gradual reduction of each board to 10 members from 2028 and revise provisions covering geographic allocation, member attributes and voting arrangements.
