The G7 Cyber Expert Group announced that it concluded its 2026 Cross-Border Coordination Exercise earlier in May and adopted a long-term strategy to conduct simulations more frequently and consistently. The exercise tested G7 financial authorities’ coordination and communication during a simulated large-scale cyberattack affecting all G7 jurisdictions. Ministries of finance, central banks, bank supervisors and market authorities participated in the scenario. Building on the 2024 exercise, the sessions tested improvements identified through earlier simulations and workshops covering incident response, recovery and crisis communication.
