The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has accepted the surrender application of Strata SM REIT’s certificate of registration as an SM REIT and issued an investor caution notice in relation to the entity. Strata SM REIT will not hold out or represent itself as a SEBI regulated intermediary or SM REIT. SEBI’s action follows engagement with Strata SM REIT, its independent director, compliance and other officers, and the trustee after certain news reports and a review of legal proceedings against the promoter. SEBI noted that Strata SM REIT has not launched any SM REIT schemes and has not migrated any pre-existing fractional real estate entities as an SM REIT scheme.
