Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users reported that nine financial institutions registered in the Financial Services Providers Registry notified it of identity impersonation during September 2026. Individuals or purported companies allegedly used the institutions’ names, logos and corporate identities without authorization to deceive or financially harm people seeking credit or other financial services through print and digital channels. The affected institutions comprise seven nonregulated multiple-purpose financial companies and two brokerage houses. In some cases, the impersonators also misused fiscal or administrative information belonging to the institutions.
