The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) took part in the launch of 11 books using fiction and storytelling to promote public understanding of the value, benefits and lessons of insurance. The launch formed part of an event organised by the Tanzania Fasihi Fund (TAFF) in Dar es Salaam. TAFF’s director credited TIRA with backing the arts as a channel for insurance education and with acting as a major sponsor of the festival. Representing TIRA, the Manager for Relations and Communications reiterated the sector’s role in supporting the government’s 2030 ambition of 80% of Tanzanians being aware of insurance and 50% using insurance, noting that multiple education approaches are being used to reach these targets. The books will be printed and distributed to locations including libraries, schools and universities.
