The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan published the results of a comprehensive survey assessing financial inclusion and financial literacy, carried out with Asian Development Bank (ADB) support under the “Inclusive Financial Sector Development Program”. The research was designed to review the impact of measures implemented between 2021 and 2023 to expand access to financial services, covering usage of basic financial services, financial behaviour, and financial literacy levels. The survey used internationally recognised methodologies, including those developed by the World Bank Findex and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and incorporated selected questions from the International Finance Corporation’s 2020 questionnaire and tools from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The quantitative component covered 1,200 respondents across the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Kashkadarya, Fergana, Samarkand and Jizzakh regions, and the city of Tashkent, while the qualitative study involved 198 participants in Khorezm, Surkhandarya, Bukhara and Andijan regions and the city of Tashkent, including women, youth and rural residents. Data was collected through face-to-face interviews by the Center for Socio-Economic Research “Ekspert Fikri”, and the results are available on the central bank’s website in Uzbek and English.
